I was lucky enough to get in on the ARC read for From the Silence of the Shadows by VB Lacey. Guys, it was SO good. It is technically the Third book in The Veridian Empire series, but it was written as a stand alone. I read it without reading the other two, so I could give an accurate review as a stand-alone, and it's legit.
Both the story and the writing are so good. It's a slow burn, with a shadow mommy. Both main characters have so much trauma and you see it playing out in the way they interact. I get annoyed with this sometimes, but they come back and work through it SO BEAUTIFULLY. It's honestly such a good example of how messy relationships can be, especially while you're trying to heal your own trauma.
I had so many TEEHEE moments just kicking my little feets. You will be able to find it in our shop soon!
